Gino - A very Talented Engineer.

I first met Gino in 2009 when I was looking for an experienced Design Engineer to help redesign a range of packaging machinery that we manufactured in Bedforshire. He came highly recommended to me and I recall our first meeting in a Motorway Service Station where we chatted and Gino showed me examples of his work.

It was immediatly apparent that he was indeed a very talented engineer so I hired him on the spot. We gave him a very specific project to completly redesign an existing machine, to bring it up to date and to also make it look less like a 1950’s John Deer tractor! Gino accepted to work in a cramped open plan office, far from ideal for someone having to focus and concentrate. Inspite of constant interuptions, he got on with the task and joined in with the banter and laughter that we all enjoyed. He very quickly produced design ideas which we agreed to proceed with. He was a rare engineer being able to come up with design ideas and then to prove them with calculations. His knowledge of the latest 3D Computer Aided Design helped him to quickly design and produce all of the manufacturing drawings. He got us to a protype stage in a record time and that protype machine some 10 years later is still working making cardborad boxes for a firm in Mansfield. The machine went onto to become the main product for us and hundreds have since been produced and exported all around the world.

Gino returned to work breifly for us 5 or so years ago which I think was possibly one of his last assigments before retiring.

As well as being a talented engineer, he was fun to work with, had a great sence of humour and was a treasured member of our small team even though he was a contractor and not a direct employee. Another rare talent that he posessed.
So RIP Gino. Many, many fond  memories of working with you.
